MAJOR TRENDS OF THE DECADE
(film) 1904- New York State creates the first designated visual instruction department; by 1920, twelve more have formed. The primary duty of these departments is to organize existing collections of visual media. (Saettler, 1990)
(film) 1906- Visual Education, the first monograph on visual instruction, is published by the Keystone View Company. Not until the early 1930s would the publication of visual education texts accelerate. (Saettler, 1990)
(film)
1907- The Bell and Howell Company is formed; the company initially specializes
in equipment, later adding a film library.
