Scene: Seasoned volunteer orients new volunteer in the morning supply-gathering process. Volunteers pull wagon to supply truck.
RONNA: We're going to go get the dog food.
Scene: Volunteer, standing in supply truck, drops bag of food out.
RONNA: Can you get one more bag? Do you need any help?
FINN: This is dog food.
RONNA: Maybe grab two of them. We're just going to need about two to fill up the bins for tonight.
FINN: There's another one here but it's buried. That's actually very good too.
RONNA: Ok. Choose maybe one or two more. And I think we'll call that enough.
FINN: Ok. There's precise right here. Do you want me to grab another case
RONNA: No. I got like eight cases. I think we're alright for now. Just 'cause I grabbed a lot yesterday. I didn't realize we had so much extra. I was trying to grab it so I could get the good stuff. We'll probably have to restock tomorrow because it looks like all those new dogs - those new dog cages. I think they'll probably expect us to take care of them.
Scene: Ronna & Finn enter the adjacent supply tent.
RONNA: Oscar's eating the Science Diet puppy food. Batman's eating the cat food.
FINN: Who's not eating at all?
RONNA: Charlie's not eating much.
Scene: Ronna & Finn walk to the M*A*S*H unit / Clinic.
RONNA: This is just the vet log. As you can see the cases that I wrote down. Well there's Flash. He wags his tail so hard it gets all bloody.
FINN: Oh, happy tail.
RONNA: And so you write down the date, the time, who you are, the BF number, where they are, the name, the description - I just put main - pit ; and just what's up, and then they'll mark it here once they go through and see them. So like I said, I like to be out there when they come by, to talk to them a little bit. Bring over later, so it looks like they're going to treat him. This is Bonnie. That's that black and white dog, the ten-year-old.
FINN: I think we are going to put her down for grooming.
RONNA: I think we'll put her down for grooming. I think she'd like the attention more than anything else. So we'll just go ahead and fill out for today. See - Toyland!
Scene: Ronna and Finn "shop" for toys.
RONNA: See, there's cat toys mixed in. You want to, you want to grab a leash?
FINN: Yeah.
Scene: Ronna & Finn at the white board.
RONNA: This is obviously where you signed up for pooch alley. And the grooming list - we'll just add Bonnie to the list down there You just kind of write it there.
FINN: Do we know what run she is?
RONNA: We don't know her BF number. So, let's leave it until we have her BF number. See, we're going to do a good job, because this doesn't tell the groomers where it is. So, I mean, how many TerrierX black -tan's do you think are in this place? Probably quite a few. So I like to put BF number and where they are so they know exactly where the dog is.
FINN: And terrier covers a lot of ground.
RONNA: It does, so... I don't know how they'd find that dog. It would just be kind of hard.
VOLUNTEER GROOMER: We're ready for our first dog.
RONNA: For grooming? I have her. I will bring her right up to you.
FINN: Excellent.
GROOMER: This is our area.
RONNA: Ok, so we'll just go get Bonnie.
FINN: Do they have a chart they're noting on, like "bathed on blank blank?"
RONNA: That usually gets marked on the outside thing where their BF number is. We'll mark that she was bathed today. And they'll mark how she did. We take dirty blankets in there where she just went in.
Scene: Ronna & Finn enter dome tent.
FINN: Oh, my God, it's hot in here.
RONNA: It's a little warm. I don't know if we have any little dogs for that. We should probably leave it for the...
FINN: Toy Town people.
RONNA: Yeah, Toy Town or the kitties. I don't see too many blankets. Either blankets or big towels.
FINN: I think we have some that we brought with us from Atlanta , too.
RONNA: Oh, that'd be great. I think some of these might not be bad for inside the igloo.
FINN: Like that?
RONNA: Yeah, I think that's a pretty one. We'll have to give that one to a girl.
FINN: Like those?
RONNA: Yeah. Oh, you hit the mother lode. Let's grab some of those. Sheets are good.
RONNA: Oh, this is from Rose in Seattle , Washington . She sent us this whole box. She says "I know that most of these blankets and towels are not pretty but I hope they can still be of use in your efforts. Keep up the good work. Well, let's grab some of her nice ones. Ohh! Isn't that cute? She's got some nice sized ones.
FINN: Oh, look at that. This is cute. And the nice soft ones. What a sweet woman. Look at that. Brand new stuff too.
RONNA: We'll give one of those to maybe one of the little puppies. She is nice. Oh, she spent some time putting this together, I know. It's so nice to get donations like that. Let's take a couple of these bungee cords too.
FINN: I'm going to save that probably for one of the toy dogs.
RONNA: We'll grab that one. I think that's enough. Load up our little wagon and get on back.
Scene: Ronna & Finn load wagon.
RONNA: Ok - do you want to pull or do you want to carry some stuff?
FINN: I'll carry.
Scene: Finn & Ronna pull laden wagon back to Pooch Alley.
