Daily cat care involves feeding the cats, cleaning their litter boxes and kennels, providing clean bedding and fresh water, and recording notes about their health, energy level, and appetite. Petting and playing with the cats is encouraged whenever the cats are ready for this contact. It is important to help the cats remain socialized and to help keep them from getting bored. Depending on the availability of veterinary technicians and the skills of cat care volunteers, either vet techs or volunteers will treat the cats that are on medications. The cat barn contains two rows of kennels. Most kennels contain one cat but if small cats or kittens come in together, they are kenneled together when possible. A small room at the back of the cat barn is used for intake. |
